Quote of the week...

A new curse word...

Holy cow! This post took me FOREVER to finish...
and I'm not totally proud of the pages,
but I am soooo relieved to get this posted. PHEW!!
A couple weeks ago, we headed down to Blanding for the Harris Family Reunion. It was a humongous ordeal... planned to the last detail. (We can thank my cute mother-in-law, Beverly, for that. She had to head-up the whole weekend and she did a fantastic job. Thanks, Bev!)
The festivities included TONS of food, all sorts of games for the kids, Kung-Fu Panda at the local theater, T-shirts for everyone and TONS of food.
We swam, too.
Grandma Vernis offered a dollar to anyone who could to a perfect kartwheel. We had about 20 participants and Grandma paid everyone of them. (Even Porter, for giving it a try.)
Saturday night we had dinner and a talent show. The main reason we do these reunions is for our sweet little Grandma Vernis. August 5th is her birthday and we plan the reunion right around then so that we can throw her a gigantic party.
Vernis' 95th birthday was a huge success and we are so glad because it will be her last... our cute little grandma passed away last night. She lived a long happy life. She loved everyone, and in return, she was greatly loved. Vernis' husband, Ashton, died 20-something years ago and I know she missed him every day. Spencer's aunt told a story about Grandma the other day... when she was helping grandma get ready- doing her hair, or something- grandma looked into the mirror and saw a picture of her sweet-heart, Ashton, behind her. Grandma literally blushed and said, "Ashton's looking at me." I love that story... it makes me a little teary-eyed.
She has been waiting for decades to be back with her eternal companion and last night that finally came true for her.
We love you, Grandma Vernis, and we will always remember you!

Elbows...

I love how little minds think. The other day, I was quizzing Porter... a little game we play to kill time. I said, "Where's your nose?" and he pointed to his nose. Then I said, "Where's your mouth?"...pointed to his mouth. Where's your hair?... ears?... chin? Then I asked, "Where's your elbow?"... he got a blank look on his face and I could tell he didn't know that one. So I introduced him to his elbow... the right one actually. Then I asked him again... "Where's your elbow?"...
he pointed to his right elbow and then he pointed to his left elbow and said
"Dis Cookie Monter."
I got a kick out of that. Obviously, if mom calls this ELMO,
than this one must be COOKIE MONSTER!

Not Mr. Bigglesworth

One of my goals in life is to never have 2 QUOTES OF THE WEEK in a row on this blog. I've been working on scrapbook pages about Spencer's Family Reunion in Blanding, but I just don't think I'll get them done in time. So I'm going to leave you with some freaky-deaky pictures...
just to space things out a little.

This is Spencer's cousin's animal...

I think it's a cat.........from SATAN!

Look at it's freaky feet and claws.... eeeewwwwwww!

I didn't take too many pictures of him... he totally gives me the hee-bees.

I hope you don't have nightmares from this.

CALIFORNIA!

My parents take all their kids and grandkids to New Port Beach, California every year or two. We always look forward to these trips... not only for California's beautiful beaches and awesome amusement parks, but because we get to see my 2 brothers, their wives (missed you this time, Lindsey!) and our cute little niece who live far away. It was so fun to see everyone!

There were 17 of us in all and we had a wonderful time.
(Missed you too, Richard!)

Our 3 big events were the Wild Animal Park, DISNEYLAND!, and the beach.

Here are pictures form each.

SanDiego's Wild Animal Park...
Here are pictures of Disneyland.

And the beach.

I can't believe how fast this vacation came and went.
Thanks, Mom and Dad for making this such a fun trip!

Quote of the week...

Pointing to the bathroom countertop, Jack said this...

That's just great.

We are here today!

We're having the hap-hap-happiest time in the biggest people-trap ever built by a mouse.

Quote of the Week...

I was speachless for a good 20 seconds after Jack asked me this.
Then I replied, "I'll bet you just did, Jack."
